If I spend this month (not counting vacation) cleaning up and organizing all my unfinished projects (or at least my office plus the heaps that are "Christmas stuff" and "stuff two of the three mothers gave us that now we have to get rid of or find a place for"), will that keep me from starting an new projects? I just moved to the clean-up portion of my House Projects of the Day, so I'm taking a break. Morgan's bookcase is cleaned off, has waves, a dolphin, some sparkles, and two chalkboard panels painted on it. All the books are on the floor, ready to be sorted. Thank goodness for the timing of the school book sale next week!

Not quite a month ago I posted an update about Mo's room. I left off saying (and will now cross off):
* adhesive (this is proving horribly tricky)
* window hardware
* touch-up paint by fan
* register grill installed
* clean up

Also done:
* door knob installed
* second coat urethane in loft (after some sanding)
* touched up glow-in-dark paint

Hoping for time for Sketchfest, more kayaking, etc. of course. Busy day: buried a fish, painted with glitter, washed a Big Sink of dishes, ate waffles, scrubbed a parakeet cage, made Yet More Progress (see below), had coffee, conversations, more coffee, stretched my toes, looked for tools --- all of this with the help of three kids, 7, almost-4, ( Read more... )

Just finished the second coat of the sand-colored paint for the island in M's room.

The sky blue is also all done (last Friday.)
R got all the lights and the fan installed! (After July 27, before last Friday).
Updated the Large List of Awesome Completeness.

Next: either glow-in-dark stars OR sparkles for the sand OR priming some window sashes.

Ooh, progress. (At the expense of playing games with friends and with kids. Possibly at the expense of really solid parenting. :P )
Things I've checked off the Big List for Mo's room recently-ish include:
* Trim in the loft (R did it).
* Finished the white primer on the ceiling (R did the finishing). A few bits left to do where the wall was repaired.

Insurance agent here to look at roof and water damage. Interior-sheetrock, spackle, primer, paint-almost certainly covered but may not meet deductible. Exterior maybe not, as cumulative damage (if that is what it is) would not be, it's "wear and tear/maintenance".  She'll send the company's roofer contractor out to see...   Roof too wet to climb/ ( Read more... )

Painting in the new room on hold while we sort out where the water damage *came* from and how to stop it from happening again. (Related to ice dams on third floors, presumably, which caused water to leak out of a first floor ceiling last year around this time (unless it was a second floor ice dam that did that ( Read more... )

Some progress towards finishing the New Room Addition Project! Cleared away things from the particle board-reinforced wall in kitchen. Cleared up stairway landing. R brought sheetrock down and is measuring twice as I write/take a quick break..
